Vauxhall Corsa Electric Home Charging UK: Cost per Charge, Time & Best Chargers
Vehicle guide
A 50.8 kWh Corsa Electric Long Range fills in about 7 hours on a 7 kW wallbox and costs under £4 on an off-peak tariff. No Intelligent Go through the car, so the charger does the work; here's which.

Vehicle-specific tariff cost
Vauxhall Corsa Electric Long Range charging cost at 10,000 miles.
EV electricity only, using 4 miles per kWh and assuming every charging kWh reaches the listed lower rate. Household electricity and the postcode-dependent standing charge sit outside these figures.

The hardware
The Corsa Electric's Type 2 inlet is on the left rear flank, so reversing in puts the socket nearest the house. On a UK single-phase wallbox every version draws 7.4 kW. The on-board charger's three-phase rating is the one spec worth checking on the order sheet: EV Database lists the 2025-on cars at 11 kW, while the mechanically identical Peugeot e-208 has 7.4 kW as standard and 11 kW as an option, and Vauxhall's own spec pages were not available to confirm which the Corsa gets. It only matters if your house has a three-phase supply. A Type 2 cable is supplied; the 3-pin lead is optional.
DC peaks at 100 kW.
Variants (2026)
| Variant | Battery (usable) | Max AC | Max DC | WLTP range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Corsa Electric 136 PS (50 kWh) | 46.3 kWh | 7.4 kW (11 listed) | 100 kW | 221 miles |
| Corsa Electric Long Range 156 PS ("51 kWh") | 50.8 kWh | 7.4 kW (11 listed) | 100 kW | 248–267 miles |
Usable capacities; the Long Range pack is 54 kWh gross on 2025-on cars. Trims are YES, GS and Ultimate, from about £26,000 with the Electric Car Grant. Real-world range is about 180 and 205 miles. Figures below are for the Long Range.
How long it takes to charge the Corsa Electric
The figures below are for the Long Range, the version most people buy, with its 50.8kWh usable battery.

Costs
The tariff does most of the work. The Corsa Electric returns about 4 mi/kWh in real-world UK driving.
Cost per full charge (50.8kWh)
| Tariff | Rate | 0–100% | 20–80% |
|---|---|---|---|
| EDF GoElectric | 6.66p/kWh | £3.38 | £2.03 |

Annual charging cost at 10,000 miles
| Tariff | Cost per mile | Annual cost |
|---|---|---|
| Octopus Intelligent Go | 1.9p/mile | £190 |
| Octopus Go | 2.4p/mile | £238 |
| Standard variable | 6.6p/mile | £658 |
| Public rapid only | 19.8p/mile | £1,975 |
| Petrol equivalent | ~19p | ~£1,900 |
Petrol assumes 40 mpg at £1.45 a litre. The electricity figures are charging only: no standing charge, and no allowance for the 5–10% lost between the wall and the battery.
The gap between the standard rate and a good EV tariff is several hundred pounds a year on typical mileage, and it costs nothing to close. The interactive savings calculator runs the numbers for your mileage; the UK EV Charging Cost Index compares every tariff per mile.
NMC battery, and no charge limit in the car
The Corsa's NMC packs want the usual 80% daily limit for longevity, but the car has no user-settable charge limit: it charges to 100% every time unless something stops it. The practical answers are to set the limit at the charger (the Ohme, zappi and Hypervolt all let you cap a session by kWh or percentage) or simply not to leave it plugged in for days at full. For a small-battery car that is driven most days, 100% overnight is not a disaster; it is just not ideal.
As on the e-208, the car's own deferred-charging timer will make it sit on a wallbox doing nothing until its set hour if you forget it is active, and a flat 12V battery after weeks plugged in is a known trait of the platform.
Smart tariffs and the Corsa Electric
Intelligent Octopus Go has no integration with the car, so the scheduling has to come from the charger. That rules in the Ohme Home Pro, Ohme ePod, myenergi zappi, Hypervolt Home 3 Pro, Indra, Andersen and Octopus's own Octopus Charge, and rules out a basic wallbox if you want the 7.6p rate with no manual timers. Vauxhall is not on OVO Charge Anytime either. For fixed-window tariffs such as Octopus Go or EDF GoElectric, the car's deferred-charging timer in the infotainment works well on its own.
Choosing a charger
Every home charger on this site works with the Corsa Electric: Type 2 is universal for UK AC charging. Because the car cannot cap its own charge or talk to a supplier, the charger has more to do here than for most cars.
- Ohme Home Pro at £559: Octopus, OVO and E.ON links plus a per-session charge limit, which covers both of the Corsa's gaps.
- Ohme ePod at £949 installed: the same in a compact untethered package.
- Easee One at £480: the cheapest OZEV-approved unit for renters and flat owners happy on a fixed-window tariff with the car's own timer.

Common questions
Can I charge a Corsa Electric from a 3-pin plug?
Yes, with the optional lead or any portable charger, at about 2.3 kW; a full charge takes most of a day. 3-pin guide.
Does the Corsa Electric work with Intelligent Octopus Go?
Not through the car. A smart charger with its own Octopus integration makes it work normally.
Can I set an 80% charge limit on a Corsa Electric?
Not in the car. Use the charger's session limit if it has one.
Does the Corsa Electric have Vehicle-to-Load?
A 3.6 kW V2L function is listed for the 54 kWh Long Range only. No vehicle-to-grid.
