Porsche Macan Electric Home Charging UK: Cost per Charge, Time & Best Chargers
Vehicle guide
The 95 kWh Macan Electric fills in about 13 hours on a 7 kW wallbox and costs about £7 on an off-peak tariff. Two AC inlets, Intelligent Go through My Porsche with caveats, and the 80% rule that matters at this size.

Vehicle-specific tariff cost
Porsche Macan Electric charging cost at 10,000 miles.
EV electricity only, using 3.2 miles per kWh and assuming every charging kWh reaches the listed lower rate. Household electricity and the postcode-dependent standing charge sit outside these figures.

The hardware
The Macan Electric has two charging ports at the rear: an AC inlet on each wing, with the CCS DC connection on the left. Whichever way it parks, there is a socket on the house side, which makes cable length a non-issue. The on-board charger is 11 kW as standard: 7.4 kW on a UK single-phase supply, 11 kW on three-phase. A 22 kW charger appears in some databases but not in Porsche's UK press material or tech sheet, so do not plan on it. A Type 2 cable is supplied, and Porsche's Mobile Charger (with 3-pin and Type 2 adapters) is usually in the box.
DC peaks at 270 kW on the 800 V platform.
Variants (2026)
| Variant | Battery (usable) | Max AC | Max DC | WLTP range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Macan (RWD) | 94.9 kWh | 11 kW | 270 kW | 340–398 miles |
| Macan 4 | 94.9 kWh | 11 kW | 270 kW | 327–379 miles |

| Macan GTS / Turbo | 94.9 kWh | 11 kW | 270 kW | 328–366 miles |
Every version shares the 100 kWh gross / 95 kWh usable pack. Prices run from about £69,800 (Macan) to £99,300 (Turbo). Real-world range is about 305 miles for the rear-drive car. Figures below apply to all versions.
How long it takes to charge the Macan Electric
The figures below are for the Macan 4, the version most people buy, with its 94.9kWh usable battery.
20% to 80%, the everyday window
| Supply | Charge time (20–80%) | Range added |
|---|---|---|
| 3-pin socket (~2.3 kW) | ~25 hours | ~182 miles |
| 7 kW wallbox | ~7½ hours | ~182 miles |
| 11 kW three-phase | ~5.2 hours | ~182 miles |
The biggest battery on this site, so empty-to-full on single-phase is a long night and three-phase genuinely helps. A typical day's 40 miles is back in about two hours either way.

| Supply | Charge time (0–100%) | Notes |
|---|---|---|

| 11 kW wallbox (three-phase) | ~8½ hours | Only if the house has a three-phase supply |
Costs
The tariff does most of the work. The Macan Electric returns about 3.2 mi/kWh in real-world UK driving.

| Tariff | Rate | 0–100% | 20–80% |

Petrol assumes 40 mpg at £1.45 a litre. The electricity figures are charging only: no standing charge, and no allowance for the 5–10% lost between the wall and the battery.
The gap between the standard rate and a good EV tariff is several hundred pounds a year on typical mileage, and it costs nothing to close. The interactive savings calculator runs the numbers for your mileage; the UK EV Charging Cost Index compares every tariff per mile.
NMC battery: 80% daily, and matching the two apps
The Macan's NMC811 pack wants an 80% daily charge target, which My Porsche's "optimised charging" sets by default, with 100% before a long trip. On a 95 kWh battery that is still 240-odd real miles.
The quirks are about profiles. My Porsche works with departure-time charging profiles rather than a simple start timer, and an active profile can stop a plugged-in car from charging immediately; owners also report the car charging past a set 80% to around 90% (Macan EV Owners). If you use a smart charger or Intelligent Go, set the same 80% limit in both the Porsche app and the charger, and keep only one scheduler active.
Smart tariffs and the Macan Electric
Intelligent Octopus Go can control the car directly through the manufacturer's app, so any charger works: the charger is just a socket, and Octopus tells the car when to draw. Porsche is on Octopus's car-side list, so Intelligent Go runs through My Porsche with any charger, but owners' results vary by version and model year: the GTS and some 2026 cars have failed Octopus's checker, and the test charge fails unless the charger is set to unlocked and no Porsche profile is blocking an immediate start (Macan EV Owners, GTS thread). A charger with its own Octopus link removes the dependency. OVO Charge Anytime lists Porsche as a brand; confirm the Macan specifically with OVO.
Choosing a charger
Every home charger on this site works with the Macan Electric: Type 2 is universal for UK AC charging. A car at this price usually goes on a wall that someone cares about, and the two inlets mean cable length is never the problem.
- Andersen A3: the cable disappears behind a door, the finish can be specified to the house, and the Octopus and OVO links are built in. The natural match.
- Ohme Home Pro at £559: Intelligent Go, OVO and E.ON in the charger for the versions Octopus's checker rejects, and a per-session limit to hold the 80% rule.
- myenergi zappi at £684: supplier links plus solar diversion; a 95 kWh pack will take everything a roof can give it.

Common questions
Can I charge a Macan Electric from a 3-pin plug?
Yes, with the Porsche Mobile Charger's 3-pin adapter, at about 2.3 kW. A full 95 kWh charge takes the best part of two days; it is strictly for emergencies. 3-pin guide.
Does the Macan Electric work with Intelligent Octopus Go?
Usually, through My Porsche, but the GTS and some newer cars have been rejected by Octopus's checker. A charger with its own Octopus integration is the reliable route.
Which side do I plug in?
Either: AC inlets on both rear wings. Only the left one takes a DC rapid charger.
Is 7 kW enough for a 95 kWh battery?
For daily use, yes; empty-to-full is about 13 hours, which you will rarely need. This is one of the few cars where a three-phase supply, if you have it, makes a real difference.
