For installers
Installer terms, in plain English.
How TeslaCharger quote requests reach you, what they cost, and what we ask in return. Three accepted leads free, then £18 for each one you accept. Nothing for the ones you decline. No contract.
Who this is for
Electricians and installation firms who fit home EV chargers in the UK and want to quote for customers who have asked us for installation quotes. TeslaCharger.co.uk is an independent guide to home chargers and tariffs; readers who want a charger fitted fill in one form, and we pass the request to installers who cover their postcode.
These terms are the whole arrangement. By ticking the box on the join form you agree to them; by accepting a lead you agree to them for that lead.
Pricing
- Your first three accepted leads are free.
- After that, each lead you accept costs £18.
- Declining a request costs nothing, and neither does letting one expire.
- No contract, no minimum number of leads, no monthly fee. Leave whenever you like.
You pay for the introduction, not the outcome: the charge applies when you accept, whether or not the customer goes ahead with you. That is why you see the request before deciding.
How a request reaches you
When a customer asks for quotes, we offer the request to no more than three installers who cover their postcode. You get it by email from [email protected]; add that address to your safe senders.
Each offer has a deadline, usually within a few working hours; the exact deadline is on each offer. If you neither accept nor decline by then, the offer expires and the place goes to the next installer who covers the area. An expired offer costs nothing, but customers are waiting, so a quick “decline” is kinder than silence.
What you see before you accept, what you get after
The offer is an anonymised summary: the postcode district, the car, the charger they want, the property and parking type, their timeline and how they would like to be contacted. Enough to decide whether the job is yours.
The customer’s name, full address, phone number and email are released only when you accept. They appear on the lead page and in a confirmation email, and stay in your installer hub.
What we expect of you
- Accept or decline each offer before its deadline.
- Make first contact within one working day of accepting, using the customer’s preferred method where they gave one.
- Hold the registrations and insurance you told us about, and tell us if that changes.
- Tell us if the area you cover changes, so you are not offered jobs you cannot do.
We check. Two days after you accept, we ask the customer whether you have been in touch. About two weeks later we ask whether the installation went ahead. If customers repeatedly tell us they have not heard from you, we pause your offers and email you to say why.
Billing
Free leads need no card. At your first paid accept we ask you to save a card through Stripe; we never see or store the card number. Accepted leads are then charged to that card weekly, on Mondays, or straight away once £90 is unbilled. Stripe emails a receipt, and your hub lists every charge.
If a payment fails, you cannot accept new leads until you update the card. We email you a link to do it, and saving a new card retries the payment.
Problem reports and credits
If a lead is unusable, report it from the lead’s page in your hub within seven days of accepting. The reasons we accept are: the customer’s phone number and email do not work, so they cannot be contacted; the customer had already arranged an installer (choose “Something else” and say so); it duplicates a lead you already had; the address is outside the area you cover; or the enquiry is not genuine.
A person reads every report. If it is valid, the lead is credited: an unbilled charge is dropped, and one already taken is refunded to your card. After seven days the charge stands, and we do not refund a lead because the customer did not answer or chose another installer.
Customer consent and data
Before sending the form, the customer is told that their details go to no more than three installers who cover their postcode. That is the basis on which we pass them to you.
- Use the customer’s details only to contact them about, quote for and carry out that job.
- Do not add them to a mailing list, send them marketing or pass them to anyone else.
- Once you have their details you look after them under UK data protection law, as you would for any enquiry. If a customer asks you to stop contacting them, stop.
Our own handling of customer data is in the privacy policy.
Vetting
Before switching you on we look at what you told us when you applied: your competent person scheme registration, OZEV authorisation, your company at Companies House, and your public liability insurer and policy expiry date. We may ask to see the insurance certificate. What we check and what we show publicly is set out in how we vet installers. We may decline an application, or pause an installer, if those checks do not hold up.
Stopping
To pause offers for a while or leave altogether, email [email protected], or use “Ask Joe to change something” on the account page of your installer hub. It is done the same working day. Leads you accepted before stopping are still payable, including any unbilled charges, which are taken on the next Monday run.
We can also stop offering you requests, for example if offers go unanswered, customers report no contact, or a payment fails and is not put right. We will email you to say so.

Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will email every installer on the panel before the change takes effect, saying what has changed, and update the version line below. A lead is always billed on the terms that applied when you accepted it.
